Change your Clocks; Change your Batteries

Remember, November 4, 2012 at 2:00 a.m. is the day we move our clocks backwards on hour to end daylight saving time.

You should also remember when you change your clock to change the batteries in your smoke detectors. It’s a proven fact, working smoke detectors saves lives.

According to the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department, more than one million dollars in property in Macon and Bibb County have been destroyed in fires this year. It’s as simple as 1,2,3 to help protect your homes. Change your Clock; Change your Batteries.

Process to Build Technology Infrastructure for Consolidated Government Begins

As part of the Macon-Bibb County Consolidation, the Transition Task Force approved the team of Shafer Consulting and Technical Support Services, Inc. on Wednesday, October 17 to work with the City and County to develop a Request for Proposals (RFP). This will be used to seek out vendors that can provide a new, innovative, and cutting edge package of system and technology tools for the new government’s public administration and public safety services. By taking a comprehensive look at all aspects of how technology is used, identify the current and future needs, and discuss ways it can better serve the people, a system can be built that will help create a more effective Macon-Bibb County.

“Both of our systems are running, but there are definitely issues that need to be addressed. We need to have a single, streamlined system, not a merging of two systems that are already in need of large improvements,” says City of Macon CAO Dale Walker. “Working together to identify issues, needs, resources, and goals will allow us to identify the best solution for the new government and, most importantly, the public.”

5x5 Program in East Macon Finishes with Community Meeting, Neighborhood Cleanup

The second year of the City of Macon’s 5x5 Program began October 29 with focused services in East Macon and will conclude with a community meeting and neighborhood cleanup on December 1. The community meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the cleanup will begin at 12:00 p.m.
