Macon & MCCG Partner to Improve New & Pine Streets

The City of Macon and the Medical Center of Central Georgia (MCCG) are working together to improve the roads, sidewalks, and traffic flow along Pine Street between Spring and First Streets and New Street from Pine Street to Plum Street Lane.

During construction, there will be detours and road closures in the area. The first closing will be Pine Street from Spring to New Streets. New Street will remain open, as will the section of Pine to First Streets, and traffic will be rerouted to Forsyth Street. This will begin October 15, 2012.

Partners & Agencies Celebrate Construction on New Community Center

Center to House Promise Neighborhood Program & Partners

The Macon Promise Neighborhood (MPN) program and community partners are celebrating the beginning of construction on the Central Georgia Partnership for Individual & Community Development (CGPICD) Center with the unveiling of the artist’s renderings and a ceremonial groundbreaking. The ceremony will be held at the site of the new Center at 1780 Anthony Road on Monday, October 15 at 11:00 a.m. (This is the location of the former Ballard-Hudson Middle School near Henderson Memorial Stadium.)

Speakers will include representatives from the MPN, CGPICD, Mercer University, City of Macon, Bibb County, Bibb County School District, and Central Georgia Technical College. In attendance will be MPN staff and community partners, representatives from the partner schools, and other community leaders.
